Document Collection

Clicking "Execute" in the document list window starts automatic document collection.

1. Automatic Patent Document Collection

• PDO retrieves patent document information (publication text, PDF, bibliographic data) from Google Patents, subject to their terms of use and robots.txt access restrictions. Retrieval may not be possible due to access restrictions or security checks.
• PDO also accesses the European Patent Office (EPO) API (OPS) to collect publication text, PDFs, and bibliographic data.
• If the type of publication (patent/utility model) cannot be determined from the number entered, PDO defaults to fetching a patent (laid-open) publication. Utility model publications that cannot be identified must be retrieved manually.

2. Non-patent Documents

If a file path (rather than a patent number) is specified in the document list window, the specified file is stored in the "pdo_docs" folder within the case folder.
