System Requirements

  • OS Windows 11 (64-bit)
  • CPU / Memory 64-bit processor
  • Required Browser Google Chrome
  • Other Internet connection required

* Mac is not currently supported.

Network Requirements

1. Communication Protocol and Direction

  • PDO accesses external services from your PC (no inbound connections to PDO are required)
  • All communication is encrypted the same way as ordinary web browsing (HTTPS, standard port 443)
  • If a proxy is present, PDO follows the Windows system proxy settings

2. External Services Accessed by PDO

  • RN-IP Server
    Purpose: licence management, application number → publication number conversion, etc.
    Domain: rn-ip.com
    URL: https://rn-ip.com/pdo/v1/*
  • ChromeDriver distribution (Google Chrome for Testing)
    Purpose: automatic ChromeDriver download (first launch / version update only)
    Hosts: googlechromelabs.github.io / storage.googleapis.com
  • Google Patents
    Purpose: patent document retrieval (PDF/text), Chrome display
    Host: patents.google.com
  • J-PlatPat
    Purpose: document display after obtaining a fixed URL (Chrome display)
    Host: j-platpat.inpit.go.jp
  • Google Translate
    Purpose: translation (fallback when DeepL is not configured)
    Host: translate.googleapis.com
  • DeepL (user option)
    Purpose: API-based translation
    Hosts: api.deepl.com (Pro) / api-free.deepl.com (Free)

3. If Firewall Rules Are Required

If PDO cannot connect in a corporate firewall environment, please take the following steps (ask your IT department if needed).

3-1. Allow HTTPS Traffic

Allow access to the following domains. If path-level rules are needed, use wildcards:

  • https://rn-ip.com/pdo/v1/*
  • https://googlechromelabs.github.io/* (ChromeDriver auto-download)
  • https://storage.googleapis.com/* (ChromeDriver auto-download fallback)

(If PDO network diagnostics shows errors)

(If using the translation feature)

3-2. SSL Inspection Exclusion

If SSL inspection (deep packet inspection) is in use, add the above domains to the exclusion (whitelist).

PDO validates TLS certificates, so SSL inspection may cause certificate errors that prevent connections.

PDO includes an option to connect with TLS certificate verification disabled, accessible from the SSL error screen at startup.

* Use the option to disable TLS certificate validation only if permitted by your organisation's security policy.
